Owl Paintings + Creating Colorful Layers
Join My Free Class + Save The Date For The Portrait Painting Masterclass
Owls have always been my favorite thing to paint.
I wasn’t planning to paint any owls for my new collection, but, as it happens, my creativity has its own ideas.
I hear and see owls everywhere I go. So, of course, while I’ve been on my artist’s residency these last few weeks, I’ve heard two great horned owls.
When I first started painting owls in 2009, I had no clue what to paint. But when I stood back to look at my first layers, I distinctly saw the outline of an owl and they’ve been one of my favorite things to paint ever since.
They’re such an inspiration and a sign to me that I’m not just following the right path, but that peace, wisdom, and magic are ahead. I hope these owls inspire you today too!

Join me from February 26 - March 24, 2024, for the Portrait Painting Masterclass.
It’s actually a class many of my students requested from me as they’ve struggled with painting faces, and these portraits have become one of their favorite ways to build confidence and find their own unique style.
During class we’ll experiment with daily watercolor paintings and layered portraits you can do in less than 30 minutes with just a few simple supplies. It’s perfect if you’ve been wanting to paint women’s eyes and faces, but feel like you don’t have a lot of time.
Here's what Dheera had to say about the Portrait Painting Masterclass:
"I simply LOVED this class. I never could imagine that I'd ever be able to create these great ladies. Juliette’s instruction and the repetition in the daily painting sections made me so much more confident and able." -Dheera K.
As always, I’m happy to answer any questions you have. Feel free to leave a comment or message me here.
If you’d like to get started now, I’ve also put together a NEW mini-course called Watercolor Joy… it’s all about loosening up, letting go, and playing.
